In Metal Slug Attack, you can find more than 100 different levels, in settings from around the world. Also, with the money and the medals you earn after completing each level, you can level-up your character and improve your units. The footsoldier is the cheapest thing to buy, but you can also find tons of other elements, including tanks, planes, grenadiers, heroes, etc.
The gameplay is simple: every second, you receive a number of coins, which you can invest in buying soldiers and other troops. Of course, you can find all the well-known characters from the legendary SNK franchise to help you on your mission. Some say that they prefer Metal Slug X over Metal Slug 2 because of the slowdown but here's a little known fact. In Metal Slug 2 they're not revealed till late game where they're already hinted at in the first stage in Metal Slug X. I don't agree on this at all! The way the plot about the aliens is revealed in Metal Slug 2 is far better than Metal Slug X. People also seem to prefer Metal Slug X over Metal Slug 2. Great atmosphere, music and a nice suprise that you can be turned into a blood spewing zombie. It does have my favorite stage in the series, stag 2, the zombies stage. It drags on FOREVER and is just as long as the first 5 missions combined. I'm thinking of the Final Mission specifically. I agree on that but it's not without it's flaws. It seems to be a general concensus that Metal Slug 3 is considered the best in the series. 2 isn't far behind as it's not that hard either. Someone asked what the easiest game in the series was to 1cc and I have to say Metal Slug 1. This was made by a korean company, if I remember correctly, and is a mess of reused sprites and unbalanced difficulty. My most disliked game in the series is Metal Slug 4. It has awesome sprite graphcis, great animation, tight controls and the humor it top tier.
